About

In the year 2000, at a Rotary club meeting in Helston, Cornwall, a group of local people came up with a simple idea: pack everything a family needs after a disaster into a single box. They hoped to help eight or ten families a year.

Twenty-five years later, that idea has reached more than three million people.

It's a remarkable story. But it isn't unique.

Across Cornwall, Britain and the world, people are quietly going the extra mile, solving problems, helping others, making a difference. They're the people we pass in the supermarket, the ones we work alongside. They don't tend to show off, they're a humble bunch, so they rarely make the headlines. But they're the people our future depends on.

Hope Stories exists to find them. Twice a month, we give one of them a platform to tell their story, and to share a little of that hope with the rest of us.

Person, Problem, Passion, Hope

The shows follow this simple premise.

Person we get to know the background story, this is often where the seeds of passion are born.

Problem we find out the frustration that caught their attention, something they could not ignore.

Passion we explore their part in fighting to make the world a better place.

Hope we see where their story is now and the bravery that keeps hope alive, despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
